🔌 AI Hack: Hire Steve Jobs To Run Your Marketing

One of The Plug’s favourite quotes:

"There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen"

This is what is happening in AI right now — and the plug is consuming ALL of it.

Here’s today’s hack:

Imagine you start a company and you get Steve Jobs and David Ogilvy on your marketing — whilst Jeff Bezos builds the business model.

This is what Max Rumpf has built with Multi-GPT.

🔌 Plug Breakdown:

  1. State your goal - I want to acquire 1 million customers, or I want to reduce my ad costs by 50%.

  2. Assemble your experts - Create your Harlem Globetrotters. Elon Musk, Bezos, Ogilvy — throw in Freddy Mercury as Social Sec to keep things exciting. (We draw the line at Bryan May).

  3. Let them figure it out - They sit there chatting to each other and working together on your goal. You sit back and drink your coffee.

This project is still clearly in its infancy — but you can see the trendline of where this is going.

Golden AI rule: Today is the worst it will ever be.

🔌 Plug prediction: As the cost of software decreases, marketing is the most important skill of the next decade.

🔌 How One Ad Campaign Made £20M

Danny Buck is the CEO of CRAFTD.

He is one of the most underrated marketers on the internet.

3 years ago, he came up with one advertising angle that made him £20m:

If you're a male between 18-40, you’ve probably seen so many versions of this ad — as well as plenty of rip-offs too.

He created the jewellery meme: “Sick of green necks

🔌 Plug Breakdown:

  1. Pain reduction - People are more motivated by avoiding pain than they are by gaining pleasure. The social embarrassment of having a green neck is so strong it became an iconic meme.

  2. Competitor distinction - It clearly defines in the customer’s eyes that there’s green neck jewellery, and then there’s CRAFTD jewellery. It creates a clear distinction between CRAFTD and everyone else.

  3. Social First Memes - Algorithms rule everything. And algorithms LOVE engagement. The “sick of green necks” meme makes you want to tag your friend.

    The Buck Flywheel:

People tag their friend on the ad —> CRAFTD gets cheaper ad prices —> More people see it —> People tag their friend on the ad —> More people see it —> Infinite flywheel —> £20M in sales 😅

🔌 How One Guy Hacked AirBnB via Google Ads

Neal O’Grady almost unplugged the plug from it’s socket with this tweet:

He got $40,000 of AirBnB credit.

How?

From spending $900 on Google Ads 😂

I set up Google Search Ads to point to my Airbnb referral link. Here’s what my setup was: – Anywhere in the world, any language – $0.01 target click price – Target keywords like Airbnb, Airbnb signup, etc. Mostly super broad. That’s it.”

The Plug is kicking itself for not thinking of this.

“It eventually stopped working, but I used the same tactic to get credit on meal kits—which also stopped working. If you’re creative and on the lookout, there are always opportunities to put VC money to good use”
